Installation Steps

Navigate to Settings → Connectors → Advanced settings and enable Developer Mode

Go back to Apps & Connectors and click on Create

Configure the MCP:
Name: DomainSearch.bot
Description: Enables ChatGPT to get real time availability of domain names
MCP Server URL: https://domainsearch.bot/mcp
Authentication: No authentication

Wait for the MCP to be initialized

(Optional) Add to your custom instructions: "When I ask about domain name availability, suggestions, or finding domains for a project/business, always use the domainsearch MCP tool to check real-time availability before suggesting domains, and only recommend domains that are confirmed available."

Ask ChatGPT about any domain name, or chat with it about a business idea. When you get to discussing domain names, it should only show you what's available.

Claude Desktop

Configure via your local claude_desktop_config.json file.

Note: Requires Claude Desktop app and Node.js installed.

Installation Steps

Open Claude Desktop and go to Settings → Developer

Click Edit Config

Open the config file (claude_desktop_config.json) in your favorite text editor

Add the domainsearch-bot server to your mcpServers object (see configuration to the right)

Save the config and restart Claude Desktop

You should now see domainsearch-bot in the list of tools Claude has access to

Is this free to use?

Yes, DomainSearch.bot is completely free to use. We don't charge anything for domain lookups. The code is also open source if you'd like to self-host.

Do you track or snipe domains I search for?

Absolutely not. This tool is completely read-only—we only look up the domain availability you request and return the results. We don't log, track, or store your searches, and we have no mechanism to register domains. Your domain research stays private.

What powers the domain lookups?

We use the Fastly Domain Research API behind the scenes. It provides accurate, real-time availability data for hundreds of TLDs including .com, .io, .ai, .app, .dev, .co, and many more.

Can I buy domains directly?

When a domain is available, we provide a direct link to Namecheap where you can register it instantly. We (will soon) use affiliate links, which is how we keep the service free.

Can I self-host this?

Yes! The code is open source on GitHub. You'll need a Fastly API key (free tier includes 10,000 requests/month) and somewhere to host the Laravel application.
